I’ve Been Kickin it Old School, Way Better than Jamie Kennedy
September 3rd, 2007
Since my Alienware rig is still out of commission from the lighning strike, trying to keep up with my gaming hobby has been interesting the last few weeks to say the least. Since I don’t pwn a 360 or a PS3, I had to fall back on what’s available: my Xbox and my N64. I haven’t touched the 100 pound Xbox console in months, and it’s garnered quite a bit of dust. A while back I sold off most of my games, so I only have four left over; most notably one of my favorite games of all-time: KOTOR. The thing is though, I’ve played through that game so many times now I have no desire to pick it up. So I go to my next available option via the old school N64, and fire up arguably the greatest game of all-time in Ocarnia of Time (I know i spelled it wrong, but it’s an inside joke). I haven’t played it in years and I’m loving it … until I get sucked into Lord Jabu Jabu’s fuckin belly and tear my hair out in a fit of frustrated rage.

Download Command & Conquer Gold for Frizeee!!!
September 2nd, 2007
Twelve years and three days ago Westwood launched the gold version of everyone’s favorite RTS game, Command & Conquer. C&C Gold, also known as C&C 95, brought forth a much higher screen resolution allowing commanders a much sharper, and more importantly wider view of the battlefield. On top of that (which alone sold me!) came the creation of Westwood Online, allowing for true Internet play that the originanl DOS version was never capable of. Today in the XP/Vista era us hardcore C&C/Red Alert fans itcing for some old-school action could only play Red Alert 1 with some serious OS tweakage, and C&C Gold was literally impossible to play on today’s machines. Well now EA, the gaming company every gamer hates today and who took Westwood into the grave, is going FTW by releasing the original C&C Gold in all its full glory for FREE via a direct download from their official web site. For more info along with download links hit the link below!

2K Games: “Did We Say 2 Times? We Meant 5!”
August 24th, 2007
The people of Earth have spoken and not only was 2K games listening, but they actually responded by quickly by pumping out a patch for the PC version of Bioshock that now let’s players install and uninstall the game on up to FIVE different puters instead of the original two. I’m amazed at this recent turn of events as I don’t think many companies would do something like this, especially this damn fast. My hat goes off to 2K Games, even though I never wear one. On top of that 2K Games is fervently working on a second PC patch that will address the many widescreen issues that gamers are experiencing. Currently a release date for that patch does not exist, however as soon as we know we’ll let you know; the same patch is being considered for the 360 release as well. For the full story on this hit the jump below! More news when I feel like posting it as always.

2K Games Has Top Notch Customer Service
August 24th, 2007
Top notch, Spaulding! Top notch! If you missed the news or my post regarding the Bioshock PC install issue click here to get caught up. Once you’ve read that and been brought up to speed prepare to laugh, because earlier today I came across a hilarious but expected customer service screenshot from not only 2K Games, but SecuROM as well. In the customer service world this kind of thing is not new; I think we’ve all experienced the run around from some company’s customer service at a point in time, whether it was in the game industry or when you have to call Lover’s Lane about getting a refund for that blow-up doll. Err wait, did I just type that? Crap. Anwho, hit the jump below for the full picture above and enjoy!

New Metal Gear Solid 4 Trailer
August 22nd, 2007
Today at Konami’s Games Convention over in deutschland a new Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was unveiled to the press, only for it to lock up, crash, and ultimately burn. Hideo Kojima, the brains behind MGS, apparently shrugged off the fact that his trailer couldn’t perform at the big game and showed it later on in the day. Most sites haven’t released the new trailer yet, as it has just started trickling out of the Reichland’s Interweb lines; we have it however, and we have the fine folks over at Kotaku to thank. The new trailer will definitely excite the hardcore MGS fans, however the casual Metal Gear player may do exactly what Kojima did earlier today across the pond: shrug it off. You see Kojima has still yet to release any actual gameplay footage, so the new trailer doesn’t offer much to the casual fan. Really though the game is still a long ways away, so people shouldn’t really be expecting anything too big … yet. When you’re ready to see some MGS4 boss action and al Qaeda operatives being ripped to shreds click hizere. Hit the jump for more Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots resource-action.

Bioshock PC Owners Can Only Install Twice*
August 22nd, 2007
If you’re a PC gamer like me (love consoles, just usually prefer PC) and you picked up you copy of Bioshock or are about to, heed this warning because it will save you countless hours of frustration, yelling, and bitching in the very near future. You see PC owners, after shelling out $50 bucks for a copy of Bioshock can only install the game TWICE. That’s right fellas (I don’t think a girl will ever read this blog, although I’d love to be proven wrong) you can only install the game two friggin times! If you’re computer crashes twice, you are royally screwed because the security code on the game will not let you install it again. Your only choice is to give the people of SecuROM a call and prove that you’re not pirating the game, so they’ll let you reinstall it. There is a way to avoid most of this, hence the asterick (*) in the title, however you’re gonna hafta hit the jump below to see it; sorry, I need some more page views.

You May /kiss the Bride
August 18th, 2007
Don’t get me wrong folks, I’m a ginormous MMORPG fan and devote a healthy chunk of my weekly schedule to kicking ass and taking names in Norrath and Azeroth, but some people just take these games way, way too far. Take for example pursuing the opposite sex: I prefer to find and date women in real life, while some prefer to go the virtual route and pick up chicks at the dockside bar in East Freeport. I prefer to drink beer, some people would rather /drink beer. See what I’m getting at? Well out in the City of Sin at the SOE (Sony Online Entertainment) 2007 Fan Faire, two EQ2 love birds tied the knot in reality, and virtual reality in front of convention goers, family members, Darth Vader, and some hotel staffers who could not believe what they were seeing. You don’t see this everyday, well unless you’re a convention regular, so when yer ready for the fireworks click here and throw some rice!
F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate Trailer
August 18th, 2007
I consider myself a pretty hardcore gamer, so when gaming news gets by me unnoticed I feel a little embarrassed; especially when the news is about one of my favorite franchises. F.E.A.R. is one of my favorite PC games, and although it’s Extraction Point expansion pack completely dropped the ball on the story, the gameplay was still there so it was still AG (all good). Today while looking for updates on the progress of F.E.A.R. 2 I found a preview for F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate, a standalone expansion pack for the PC that has nothing to do with the sequel, and somehow I missed. Due out soon on October 23rd, Perseus Mandate is being developed by Timegate (who dev’d Extraction Point) and will focus more on co-operative play with AI players, along with new weapons and even new enemies. This is not the sequel to F.E.A.R., and it will be released as part of the F.E.A.R. Files so all my console-only readers out there will get to pick it up too. I have no clue how I missed this one, but now I’m friggin pumped for more F.E.A.R. goodness in just a couple of months! Hit the jump for the brand new trailer and as always, more news when I feel like posting it (or finding it!).

WoW Scamming Teenager Gets Massive Dosage of Pwnage
August 18th, 2007
Can you say pwned? I can, and you will too if you can manage to somehow stop laughing after reading one of the funniest AIM convos ever caught by a Print Screen button. Here’s a quick breakdown of what you’re about to see: a dumbass, fifteen year old kid is wanting to buy a top-level WoW character over AIM, but ultimately he’s going to try and scam the seller and get it for free. The lines this douchebag uses about hacking, his mom, and “kkthxbai” literally sent me reeling out of my chair and onto my pile of empty Mountain Dew and Red Bull cans that once resembled a floor from laughing so hard. You don’t even have to be a WoW player or fan to enjoy it either, because pwnage is pwnage, and it is enjoyed by all. When you’re ready to laugh your ass off, click here! Don’t forget to read the screenshots in order!
If the three or four of you out there reading this know of any other hilarious pwnage stories like this one, please do me a favor and leave them in the comments below. There’s gotta be more out there, there’s just gotta. Enjoy!
Bioshock Garnering Ten Spots, But Is it GOTY Worthy?
August 18th, 2007
In my last post I talked about GamesRadar’s recent “Perfect 10″ review (nothing to do with you favorite magazine) of the soon-to-be released Bioshock by Irrational Games, and how we should wait for the heavy hitters (IGN, 1UP) to publish theirs before jumping to Game of the Year (GOTY) conclusions. Well about 24 hours later here we are, and by we I mean myself since no one is probably fuckin readin this blog, and the big reviews are live: 1UP gave Bioshock a 10 and IGN labled it with a near-perfect 9.7. With those two scores in, that brings the grand average review score for Bioshock around a 9.8, which is damn impressive. Many talking heads in the gaming community are already giving Bioshock the 2007 Game of the Year hardware, but I say hold on, because the year is far from over. Hit the “jump” for the challengers that are still to come!
